Although the tour was meant to move on to different areas, for some reason the drifting has continued every weekend since; minus the additional entertainment. It was bad enough that PLDT expanded their tour time in Eastwood but now it’s transformed into the Lateral Drift Championships. The crowd has steadily declined and aside from a handful of spectators, the only people who attend the event are the drift car drivers.

The only benefit of holding the event in Eastwood is the potential of pulling in large crowds, however that’s clearly not happening. So why not move it a non-residential area?

I for one am fed up with being woken up at 8am every Saturday and Sunday by the noise of car wheels screeching. The question is, why are they still here? The tour was meant to move on and the event no longer pulls in spectators. If the boys want to play with their toys, why don’t they do it somewhere else?

Whether you’re just looking to see the newest releases at a reasonable price or wanting to take your cinema experience to a new level, your needs will be fulfilled by one of the Eastwood Cinemas.

What’s the difference between the old cinema and the new one?

The older cinema based in Eastwood Citywalk is much the same as any other theatre in metro Manila. The price is around P170 per ticket and the theatre features standard seating, a reasonable quality screen and an impressive sound system. Basically, this cinema is no better and no worse than just about any other average cinema in the metro.

The newer Ultra 7 cinema in Eastwood Mall is a level above all other theatres. Although the price is significantly higher at P400 per ticket, there are some benefits that you don’t find at other theatres.  It has the latest Dolby Digital EX sound system (with bass that literally rumbles your whole body) and fully reclining chairs for comfort! You can lay back in your seat with your feet up and enjoy unlimited free popcorn and drinks! (sodas and water). Another perk of the Ultra 7 is having bathroom facilities within the movie room itself, meaning you won’t miss a large chunk of the film while you nip to the toilet!

Eastwood City sympathises with the circumstances brought about by typhoon Ondoy, especially those greatly affected in the neighbouring areas of Marikina, Pasig and Quezon City.

It is in this light that Eastwood City foundation, together with its Holy Family Chapel, will donate one million pesos to aid the victims of the typhoon. You too can join our drive and help our efforts in the spirit of community service by donating cash, clothes, blankets, bread, canned goods, noodles, water,rice toiletries, milk, sugar, coffee, vitamins and medicines for common illnesses.

Donations are accepted 24 hours at the newly established Eastwood City donation center, ground floor of 1880 bldg, behind Eastwood mall, in front of swell at the ground floor of the Eastwood Palazzo condominium. This donation drive is in cooperation with Magic 88.9.

Stage being prepared for BPI auto loans

BPI will be holding an event tomorrow to promote their auto(car) loans in the open park of the Eastwood Mall.

The stage was put together today in the pouring rain.. that’s dedication!

The following are the requirements for BPI auto loans:

Aged 18-65

Your family income must be at least 3 times the monthly loan cost. For example if you’re paying a loan of 10,000 PHP a month then your family must earn a minimum of 30,000 per month.

The apparent benefits of using BPI over any other loan provider is that they do all the work for you from finding the best car deal, purchasing it and even having it delivered to your home.

This event actually turned out to be quite big. In the open park area of the Eastwood Mall was a large range of cars on show, from standard sedans to the high performance Subaru Impreza.Inside the mall itself was a promo show along with free drinks and media information.

I was surprised and disappointed that Eastwood City didn’t release info on this event on their Facebook or Twitter page since it could have been great.

Jack TV along with Eastwood City bring us Jackstock 09, live at the Eastwood Central Plaza. This event was held on 29th Aug 2009 and the best thing about it? Everything was free!

This event promises to be one of the funniest and lively, surely not to be missed.

History of Jack TV

Jack TV is a purely Filipino aired comedy channel which was launched in May 2005. Jackstock is here to celebrate their 4 years of success! They commonly air shows which are featured on prime US networks such as CBS, FOX, NBC, BRAVO and FX.

PICCA – Free caricature drawing

To promote the Philippine International cartoons, comics and animation festival to be held in October there was a booth which offered free caricature drawings!

To take part in this free offer you simply had to add your name to a list and wait your turn. What turned out to be primarily drawings of kids turned into superheroes was soon overtaken by adults trying to recapture their lost childhood.

Jack TV put up a message wall and allowed any visitor to leave a comment about Jacks 4 year anniversary. It didn’t take long for this to fill up with supportive messages!

Stage

The stage was used during the day to show clips of popular shows from Jack TV such as Family Guy, American Dad and The Office. During the evening and further into the night it was used for live comedy and local bands.

The movie won’t be shown in the theatre itself but instead it will be shown outside in the open park area where the large LED screen is. The screen is 57ft high but only 21ft wide so those dimensions should make for interesting watching..

The event was originally scheduled for 2:30 pm but was moved to 4pm due to the heat in the early afternoon.

So go along on Sunday, August 30th @ 4pm to see this film for free!

The event will run between 8-9 PM and the entrance charge is… 0 PESO! That’s right, there’s no charge to attend this event. Thanks to Eastwoods continued dedication to bringing more life to the city, they’re paying for this event out of their own pocket (perhaps with a little help from the radio station!)

Today the EuroFest 09 car show was held outside the new mall (Eastwood Mall open park) in Eastwood City. The event was announced as The Euro Car Club & Bimmer Car Club in cooperation with Eastwood City and Caltex.

There were over 80 Europeran cars on display with many of the owners close by to give you more information on the cars performance and history. There were also prizes to be won by those who registered an interest or voted for their favourite car!

If you’re into cars then this was an event not to be missed!
