Cyma Greek Taverna – Eastwood City

Cyma logo backlitCyma Greek Taverna is, as the name suggests, a Greek restaurant located on the second floor of the Eastwood Mall.

Restaurant layout

The restaurant is relatively small when compared with others in the Eastwood Mall. It’s made good use of its space by expanding outside to the veranda. Because this outside area is covered, it’s fine to each outside during rain.

The style of furniture is somewhat basic, although comfortable, and reminds you of a stereotypical European café.

Service

The service at Cyma is acceptable. Generally they’re very good with their greetings and try to provide a dedicated waiter/waitress to each table which is nice. However, there are times when it seems hard to get service, for example when they huddle up together outside by the entrance. Your seating position also has an effect on the level of service you receive. If you want the top service then make sure you sit inside, the second highest level of service is directly outside the entrance and the lowest level of service is at the tables furthest from the entrance, outside on the veranda, where you can be missed for quite some time.

Food

The choice of food at Cyma is superb. Their menu is very extensive and caters most audiences with the inclusion of many vegetarian dishes. The meals are prepared and served reasonably quickly, although you’d hope so since you won’t be getting any complimentary bread here. The portions are generous, although again, you’d expect this based on the pricing.

Cyma Trinoma has been a favorite resto for a long time. About 2 or 3 months ago, my friends and I met up at Cyma Eastwood Mall, and were shocked when my utensils wrapped in white napkin turned out to be dirty and rusty. The waiter apologized but the manager didn’t even approach our table to address my displeasure. He, however, allowed for my tonnos salata to be changed to my favorite roka salata at no extra cost when I realized I ordered the wrong dish. Two days ago I was again at Cyma Eastwood Mall with my daughter while waiting for my other daughter to finish a movie with her friends. I ordered my favorite roka salata and my daughter ordered her favorite skolatina (molten chocolate cake). We were advised that the dessert will be served in 20-25 minutes. More than 30 minutes had passed and the waiter kept coming up with numbers as to when the dessert will be served. Finally, the manager served the skolatina and said it was on the house because the cake didn’t rise. The cake Cyma served was actually a brown muck or goo on a plate with the vanilla ice cream on the side. It was disgusting and ridiculous. This culinary blunder is unforgiveable!
